What is DMCA ?

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (abbreviated as DMCA), is an extensive law in American law  that enacted two agreements in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 1996. This law was adopted by Congress and entered into force on October 28, 1998 by then-President Bill Clinton.

 It criminalizes the production and spread of technology, equipment or services and prevents website content from being stolen and helps to report it when it is stolen.

With the help of DMCA, we can protect the contents of our website and blog.  With the help of DMCA, we can easily delete the content of our site from copying site.

The DMCA is divided into five titles:------

 DMCA Title I: Law on the Implementation of the WIPO Copyright Treaty and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty

 This title can be classified in two parts:

 The first includes the work of several treaties of laws on copy prevention.

 The second, which is usually referred to as the provisions for not overlooking the DMCA.  The latter, leads to the creation of many minimum requirements, for example, that all analog video recorders have systems included for the prevention of copying.

DMCA Title II: Law on

Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act (OCILLA)

 This title creates a secure port for online service providers, including Internet service providers (OPS and ISP).

DMCA Title III: law on

Computer Maintenance Competition Assurance Act

 This title modifies section 117 of the copyright title that approves the temporary copying of files from a computer that is being maintained or repaired.

DMCA Title IV: Other Provisions Edit

 This title can be divided into these main provisions:

1.  The first clarifies and adds responsibilities of the copyright office.

 2. About distance education

3.  Attend the exception to libraries in letting them copy sound recordings.

4.  Regarding the transfer of movie rights.

DMCA Title V: Protection Law for Ship Helmets Designs

 This title added sections from 1301 to 1332 to add protection to the designs of ship hulls.

 Previously, these designs were not protected since they were not classified in any law on copyright.
