What is MNP ?

Mobile Number portability (MNP) is a service that allows cellphone customers to change their telecommunications company and maintain the same phone number.  You can take advantage of this service if you are from any state of India. Mobile number portability is implemented in different ways around the world.

For example, if you use Vodafone connection and you want to change the Vodafone operator for any reason, then you can come in Airtel operator without changing your mobile number.  This is called MNP only.

Documents requirement

To do Sim Port, you need the following documents that you have to attach when submitting the form:

1. identity card
2. Address proof
3. 2 photos of passport size


Note----
If you are porting your mobile number then you have to pay attention to some things.  So be sure to take these things before you make a SIM port:---

1.If you are using the SIM in the present time and you want to port it, then the SIM must be two months old.

2. If you have an old pending bill and the number has been ported, you will be given 3 months to pay the bill or your number will be closed.


3. Once UPC (Unique Porting Code) is received If you do not use it at a given time, it will be canceled.

4. If your old SIM card has some balance and any service is activated in the old SIM, then after the port, you will not get the service in the new SIM.


How to port a mobile number?

 Follow this process to port any mobile number.

Step1---To port Sim, you have to make a message from your mobile like - in the message first write the port in the Capital Letter and then enter the space by typing the space which you want to port, then send it to 1900.  Something like this is to send you a message, write Port <Space> Mobile Number and send it to 1900.

 Step2----After doing this message, you will get a code UPC (Unique Porting Code) by a message, which you can note and keep it.

Step3--- Then go to your nearest Customer Service Center or the retailer of the company in which you want Sim Port.

Step4--- In customer service center, you will get the application form of MNP.  Complete the form correctly and then attach the necessary documents to it and submit it to the retailer.

Step5--- A new SIM will be provided to you by the retailer.  Now the message you want to port will have a message of MNP request.

Now your Sim Port has completed the process.  After this, your Port Request will be accepted in 6-7 days.  When your old Sim's network ceases to exist, then you can put your new SIM in your phone.  Your old number will start with your new operator.
