In the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) a proposal to declare terrorist Masood Azhar as a global terrorist was brought.
 China used its veto power on this proposal, due to which the proposal could not be passed.
 we are going to tell you what the Veto power is, due to which the proposal of four members of the UNSC could not be passed even after agreeing.

What is Veto ?


Veto, Latin word means "I prohibit", it is a right to unilaterally stop the law of any country.

 In practice, the veto can be absolute (as in the UN Security Council, its permanent members (United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, and China) can stop or limit any proposal, such as the United Nations  In the legislative process of the United States, the President can veto a two-thirds vote of both the House and the Senate on any law.

Permanent members of the United Nations Security Council are also known as Permanent Five, Big Five, and P5, which include the following five governments: China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States.  These members represented the five great winners' powers in World War II. All these permanent members have the right to veto.

When was Vito Power first used?


 According to NBT, Vito Power came into recognition in 1920 at the establishment of the League of Nations.
 At that time permanent and temporary members of the league had veto power.  At the Yalta Conference in 1945, the then Prime Minister of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin proposed Veto Power.
 Almost one year later, in 1946, the USSR vetoed the offer for the return of foreign troops from Lebanon and Syria.

Veto rights

 It is the right to a person, party or nation that he can stop any law alone.  Veto gives unlimited rights to stop any decision, not to implement it.  Veto is a Latin word meaning 'I refuse'.
